, I use a soilless commercial mix that contains peat, perlite especially designed for starting seeds…. many people use mixes that consists of compost , peat, perlite, or vermiculite , I like the soilless as it cuts down on diseases when starting from seed..I hope this answered your question..:)

Can you give me some advice on propagating jade plants? I’m tring to propagate some leaves right now. In the past, I’ve tried it before but the roots that grew out of the leaf just dried out. Do you have any suggestions? And how long would it take for a new jade to grow out of the leaf?

@SleepIsMagic , watering is tricky, but a good rule of thumb if it feels dry to the touch when you poke your finger down in the pot , then yes water it.. try to avoid overwatering can cause lots of problems..

  • Richard says:

@SleepIsMagic , I do transplant each plant in 4 inch pot.. the seedlings are probably about 2″ tall or so.. they do shock slightly right after you transplant place in a non sunny area until they settle in , then slowly adjust to more sun each day..
